which he saw of dealing with the difficulty might result from the early testing out of a modified armature which has already been issued to the Experimental Dept. in view of the criticisms which PN.{Mr Northey} made. He urged the Experimental Dept. to give the closest possible attention to the production and testing of the machine with the new armature referred to.

Memo from Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}2/GR{George Ratcliffe}25.4.32 promising to keep in close touch with the Experimental Dept. in connection with this new armature.

Letter from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst3/MA.26.4.32 We are experimenting in the direction of still further improving the cutting-in point on our dynamos without sacrificing their peak output.

Letter from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst4/AD28.4.32"with regard to your request for particulars of the effect on the half-charge scheme by reducing the amount of field resistance, we found that by reducing the length 11" (approximately half) the cutting-in speed of the dynamo was reduced to about 15 m.p.h. in the day running position and the maximum peak output in the day running condition increased by approximately 1 1/4 amps to 11 amps. The dynamo is perfectly safe as regards heating in this condition.
