HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} c. G/Rb.{R. Bowen} STEERING COLUMNS. Re. your memo E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.5.4.37. and our verbal discussion concerning same. We attach a print of Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}352 showing our suggestion for a built up cam tube. This has been costed along with LeC.5001 and shows a saving over the latter of 1/1d. The Order Office and Cost Office inform us that if mild steel tube to commercial limits is ordered in quantities over approximately 300 ft., there is no additional charge for special sizes. In the case of the cam tube 200 sets will require about 600 ft. of tube. Therefore we have shown a special size tube which avoids the 30% increase of weight which a standard size would involve.
