Your ref: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA. Dear Sirs, Wethank you for your letter of yesterday and would confirm our telephone conversation of this morning. Bakelite Asbestos Moulding Material EXX 5072 and also a long fibre material known as B250 should prove entirely satisfactory in respect of temperature of working between 130 and 150°C., provided that the mouldings are fully cured and given a post-stoving treatment to ensure their complete polymerization. We regret that we are unable to quote surface resistivity figures at these particular temperatures but we will investigate the matter and write you again in the course of a few days. Further, we feel that it will be advisable for us to produce a modification of the B250 type of material to give the best possible electrical figures, as normally this material is not used for purposes demanding high electrical performance. We would also suggest that you test another mineral-filled material, XMB 53 (Patented), which has been found suitable for purposes such as you have outlined. In accordance with your suggestion we will send to you samples of these three materials together with discs about 3" diameter and 1/8" thick and shall be most interested to have your report on these. In this report if you would suggest any way in which these materials might be improved we will do our best to act in accordance with your suggestions. Yours faithfully, for BAKELITE LIMITED.
