Re Schrader Tyre Gauges.

We still continue to supply in the kit a Schrader Gauge reading up to 70 or 75 lbs., calibrated 5 lbs. per division. We do not think that this calibration is nearly fine enough or accurate enough for Balloon tyres, and several we have tried lately have been reading fully 5 lbs. high.

The Schrader people now market a Balloon Tyre Gauge reading 10 to 50 lbs., calibrated 1 lb. per division. We have tried several of these together against similar gauges which have been in use for three years, and they all read well within 1 lb. of one another.

We suggest that the 10 to 50 lbs. gauge should be adopted at once and supplied in the kit, because at the present time it is impossible to blame an owner or a Chauffeur if his tyre pressures are erratic and much too high. The type having a spherical end with the connector at right angles to the gauge is quite convenient.

The highest pressure recommended for any of the tyres we are at present using on either chassis is 40 lbs.
