Resolving air lock issues and petrol supply failures from the autovac tank.

In addition to overcoming this trouble it has the advantage of overcoming another. We have found that when the filter cover is removed for cleaning purposes and replaced there has always been an air lock and it has been necessary to unscrew the float chamber to release the air - this is not necessary with the release pipe fitted. It was found during the tests that slight failures of the petrol supply occurred even when using a straight through pipe from the autovac to the carburetter. In this case we found that the gas released in the autovac tank was to some extent due to pressure, preventing the operation of the autovac, this was improved by increasing the air release hole in the tank from .107 to .137 - there was no failure after this had been done. With the two schemes in operation we have not been able to produce a failure of the petrol supply even when using Aviation spirit. The sketch shews a layout of the scheme.
