HOOPER SALOON CABRIOLET. ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. SPECIFICATION OF COACHWORK & MOUNTING. CHASSIS. Special 20 HP, with specially raked column.(see drgs.) Nickel finish. Balloon tyres. (See special print for clearances.) Coachbuilder:- Messrs Hooper & Co Ltd. TYPE OF BODY. Four door, four light, FIXED ROOF SALOON CABRIOLET. See - N.Sch.2243. SEATING. Four. Two on the front seat & and two on the main seat. FRAMING PANELLING AND MOUNTING. Body to be framed in English Ash, built on R-R Ltd. body subframe. The structure is to be scientifically ironed with sheet steel gussets, made by either bending, welding or hand working. Lightness with rigidity and strength are essential. DOORS. Four doors to open at right angles or more. Front door to be hung on front pillar, rear door on rear pillar. Strong and rigid outside hinges preferably made of "Staybright Steel" with robust pins. Handles of approved pattern. Locks with double striking plates. Dovetails or the like to have ample dimensions. HEAD. Head to be built fixed following Hooper Methods. All precautions to be taken to avoid "Booming" or "Drumming". WINDSCREEN. Vertical, with split top glass. TRIPLEX GLASS. with permanent waterproof joint to glasses. Smith Mech. Screen Wiper. Front pillars to be a light section above the waist line. WINDOWS. All windows to be made to fall using mechanical window lifts. SCUTTLE VENTILATORS. Side ventilators only to be fitted. These should be flush fitting and without beading and of ample size. WINGS. VALANCES ETC. All standard chassis clearances to be adhered to. Rear wing to be carried entirely on the wheel arch and sub-frame and to be free of the chassis. Front wings to be as standard. Valances will be made by R-R Ltd. at Derby to suit the subframe. CUSHIONS ETC. Driving cushion and main cushion to be the same height above the floor when compressed. Depth of compressed cushion in each case to be six inches. Details of upholstery etc. will be settled in a separate instruction. | ||
