(3) CARBURATION. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} & Bullamore think the carburation we have on No.4 Goshawk perfect as possible, the plugs being quite clean and white: it is however thought to be affected by bad fuel which might not be so, unless the fuel is very bad indeed. This is going to be tested when Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} gets home. The result (symptoms) is loss of power at low speed causing the mixture to need strengthening (running on strong position) and hence poor consumption. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} reports both No.5, and No.6 shewed the same fault with petrol obtained at Boulogne under R.A.C. supervision. Possibly S.U. is not so bad as RR - also may be better with conical restrictors, and with water temperature maintained correctly by the thermostatic control. FAN. This seems small. The belt should be carefully watched as at first this stretches. Certainly I think a larger and lower speed fan might be much more reliable - try this. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
