X.3981. RE CHASSIS REAR SPRINGS. X.3923. X.1331.

We have been running on the bump rig a pair of
rear springs of the thick leaf type to the latest design.
The leaves are tapering in thickness at the end and are
parallel except for a large radius at the corner. The
4th. leaf on the N.S. cracked after k2 hours running. The
crack occurred under the shackle clip. After 17 hours
running the O.S. spring was found to have the fourth, fifth
and second leaves broken under the shackle clip. These
springs have not lasted the length of time they should do
but before we come to any conclusions we are testing another
pair. We find that the bedding on thesensprings is very
much better than we had before. There is no signs of the
plates digging into each other.

We are ordering half-a-dozen sets of these spring
to fit on to running cars. One pair is being fitted to 6.EX
Car.
