Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}

We have fitted the new cylinder head to 6 Cos.ll and were running yesterday. We had to remove the retaining rings from the nuts which hold the top cover on and slot the holes as the centres did not come right. Also we had to slot the holes in the exhaust pipe quite a lot. The car is not so fast as it was before we put on the new head. We have to run with rather a lot of slack in the tappets owing to the flats on the rollers.

I have bought a new battery for the car as one of the cells of the Axide battery leaks due to a cracked case. I have taken the cell out and will try to g-et it repaired. Do you know how they can be patched up?

As regards oil consumption on 7-Cos.ll we are trying it with the rocker shaft feed stopped off altogether. If this improves the oil consumption what shall we do as a permanent job ?.
