Dear Sirs,

We duly received your letter of September 28th, and have pleasure in giving you the following information:-

1. We are herewith forwarding you a blue print showing the lubricating system for this engine.

2. The crankshaft is made from a chrome molybdenum stamping hardened to a Brinell of approximately 500.

3. The oil pump maintains a pressure of approximately 50 lbs per sq.inch from engine speeds of 500 r.p.m. and upwards.

4. The maximum r.p.m. under load is 1800. Under no-load conditions with the vehicle travelling on favourable gradients the speed may reach 2400 to 2500 r.p.m. before valve bounce sets in.

5. The engine is a 4-cylinder model of 117.47 m/m bore x 150 m/m stroke, the swept volume being approximately 6500 cc. You will note from the print enclosed that the crankshaft is of the 5-bearing type and is of very generous proportions.

6. The type of oil filtration used includes a coarse gauze filter to prevent large particles of carbon, etc. from entering the sump, and two Tecalemit felt or fabric filters incorporated between the oil pump and the front end of the camshaft which acts as a distributor of the oil to all the main and big end bearings.

7. We officially recommend only first class oils as per the following list, which covers Summer (a) and Winter (b):- grades
