-2- 7. AXLE DRIVE FLANGE - WRAITH. Lock Washer G.83894 is too large to enter recess in pinion flange, thus making assembly difficult. 8. STARTING HANDLE BRACKET - WRAITH & PH.III. Special Washers are at present fitted behind set screws E.88245, these being discarded when fog lamp bracket is fitted. These washers could apparently be deleted by either tapping holes deeper, or using two flat spring washers. 9. FAN PULLEY - PH.III. The above pulley E.85120 incorporates 10 lightening holes which are not present on other chassis. It is proposed that these holes be deleted. 10. CLUTCH - PH.III. Alteration to drawing limits is necessary in order to eliminate reaming of flywheel cover G.84968, and grinding of spring cups G.84969. A model is to be prepared in accordance with desired limits and handed to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} for inspection. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} MRC S/MH{M. Huckerby} 30-6-38 agrees to this This alteration has already been put through by D.O. cl/DP 11. CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS - PH.III. In order to avoid the +2 limit on depth of dowel hole called for on BY/NS.{Norman Scott}2/G.30.6.38, it is suggested that dowel E.89245 be reduced in length from .112-5 to .105-5. This will eliminate possibility of bearing fouling dowel without recourse to fine limits. Existing length of land may be maintained by reducing end chamfer on dowel from .025+10 to .020+10. 12. BRAKE PULL RODS - PH.III. Above rods are at present undercut between screwed ends, and incorporate flanges up against which jaw is screwed. By using plain pull rods made from centreless ground bar (as on Wraith) a saving of approx: 7/6d. per chassis is provided. It would be convenient to introduce plain rods when existing stocks of undercut rods are absorbed. 13. BRAKE ACTUATING LEVERS - BENTLEY. Pinch bolts GB.974 has a flat and an angle milled on head, apparently for clearance. There seems no reason why Standard "K" bolts should not be used however. | ||
