49940 To HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EA. R.{Sir Henry Royce} S E C R E T. R2/M17.5.24. E.A.C. X.9940 X.9420 You have now given us a very definite reason for fitting a more rigid control to the front axle so that the spring deflection with the brakes shall not affect the steering. We shall endeavour to get a design suitable for the complete chassis. Something has already been done here to make a workable job. In the meantime I would like you to test the possibilities or irreversible steering to see whether this would render the car safer. Naturally one would recommend that we very definitely increased the backward lean of the pivots to the maximum amount permissible for other reasons. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
