+4456 Exptl. Dept. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}9/KW. 13th April, 1935. Messrs. New-Hudson Ltd., Icknield Street, Birmingham 18. For the attention of Mr. Frazer. Dear Sirs, We have fitted the new shoes you sent us to our Bentley, and we find on the road that the "fade" is still there and the pedal goes to the floorboards very easily, even with the brakes adjusted up to their limit. We have determined that the "sponge" is not in the linkage but is inside the drums somewhere, and we should be obliged if you would make us one further front drum and hub plate so that we may cut holes in the latter for the purpose of measuring internal deflections with micrometer clocks. We should also be pleased if you would submit to us a scheme in which the actuating wedge and cam mechanism does not float, as we feel that the movement of the cams may be the cause of the trouble we are having. We should like to assure you the shoes were assembled according to your instructions, and the linings carefully run in. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
