BENTLEY V.{VIENNA}

BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} submitted a complete list of part lists showing the dates on which the first 50 sets have been ordered, and a further list of dates when the balance of the order of 250 were placed on order.

He pointed out that changes had been made from these dates, and tabled with the other information a complete set of alterations to part lists showing the parts which had been modified, and the dates on which the changes had been made.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} expressed the view that there was a difference in procedure between the aero and chassis divisions, BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} remarked that he did not think this was the case, and has since confirmed that the procedure in the two Divisions is similer, the aero people still following the practice by which tracings were sent to the O.P. Department, with copies of the memos to the Departments concerned, the O.P. passed on the tracings when they have made up their minds as to the operations required.

(1). A Conference is being held on Thursday afternoon of this week in the Chassis Division to see what can be done to enable the Order Office to be in the position to make enquiries in regard to material earlier.

(2). Gearbox. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} asked the Experimental Department whether the gear-box was now completely cleared. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} pointed out that we were making tests of the Motion Shaft with 3/16" holes through it to enable an anti-rattle device to be fitted. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} expressed the view that this should not be necessary, and confirmed his wish for a further report from Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} as to the intensity of the rattle. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} pointed out that in his view the rattle was a minor issue, it was not of the same calibre or character as that which caused complaint on the original synchromesh boxes. He pointed out that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} Lr.{Mr Ellor} LA.{L. A. Archer} and himself had all tried
