X8940 We are sorry to say, that in spite of all eforts, we shall not be able to bring the cars to London tomorrow. 93-NK car, (the car which is starting on the 10,000 miles) is not quite ready because of alterations to piston rings. These alterations were only decided upon when E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} and DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} were at Derby on Friday last. The modifications consist of alterations to the machining of the piston to reduce the oil consumption. The car will be running fitted with the new pistons tomorrow. We expect to be able to bring the car to London on Thursday on its way to France. 98-NK car, the car which has just returned from France, after completing 10,000 miles. We found on this car that the fabric coupling was practically destoyed and it was not safe to run it until a new one had been fitted. The engine bearer tubes were also badly bent which caused the engine to be out of line. These are being replaced with the latest type. 46-PK car - on this car we have had one of the blades of the fan break which badly damaged the radiator. The fan is one of the original type. These are all being replaced with the new type fan as soon as they are available. We will let you know as soon as we are in a position to say when 93-NK car can leave Derby for France.
