X3895 Expl: Dept: Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby, England. 1st. Oct. 1923. M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} Olley, Esq. Messrs. R-R (America) Inc., Springfield, Mass., America. OY. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BALLOON TYRES. X3895 X4385 We attach herewith a copy of a letter we have sent to Mr. Macbeth of the Dunlop Rubber Co. Birmingham, England. He is starting for U.S.A. this week and is proposing to call at Springfield. However, is chief object in going to U.S.A. is to see the Fisk Tyre Co. at Springfield. I recommended him to call and see you so that you could have a chance of seeing the rims and tyres we have been testing. We think the rims are an advance over anything else we have seen - there is nothing novel about them - they are simply a copy of the old hollow wired-on bicycle rim - there are no loose pieces and the tyre can be taken on and off by hand. You will notice in our letter 2 faults we have found with the Balloon tyres. We should be very pleased to have your experience and whether you have had similar faults.
