RE LEAN OF STEERING PIVOTS.

Referring to your memo R6/H151115, I regret that I overlooked replying to the point which you raised with reference to the increase of height at the back of the car actually decreasing the rake of the pivots. I have now, however, looked into this and find that the car was actually raised at the back 1 1/4" and taking this height into the wheel base, I find it really means an angle of 40'. This being the case, it would appear that we ought to really make the apparent angle of the front axle rake 1°30', and it seems to me that this should come on at once for all cars which are at present going through.

This point of raising the back of the car has certainly been overlooked previously, until you pointed it out, and it would mean that for all practical purposes our recent cars will have vertical pivots.

With reference to 49GB, we are of the opinion that this has not been raised the 1 1/4", owing to the springs coming under the axle, and therefore, apparently, the rake on 49GB should actually come out at 50'.
