Dear Mr. Constant,

The writer has been in touch with Major Carter of the A.M., at Farnborough, on the subject of Crankshaft Torsional Vibrations, who mentioned that you were doing research work at Cambridge on the same subject.

I said to him that I thought that if I could pay you an unofficial visit, it might result in the interchange of useful ideas, and he has just said over the 'phone that as far as he knows there would be no Air Ministry objection to such a visit.

I should very much like to come over to Cambridge and see you, therefore, on some day to suit your convenience. Any day will suit me, and I should be interested to hear from you when I may come.

Yours faithfully,
