In reply to your memo RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/MW. 27/V.H. 18.1.39.

We find that the bolt in the body mounting forward of the rear axle on both sides is fouling the gaiter over the spring clip on full bump.
You will see from the accompanying sketch that only .300" compression of the bump buffer is necessary to cause a fault. The only modification we could carry out was to reverse the bolts & thus gain another .500" which we think should be ample. There is not sufficient room on the frame to raise the body bracket any useful amount unless it be moved rearwards as well, which would alter the spring spacing.

Regarding the heavy gauge shield for the hand brake lever, this tilted forward & jammed under the step iron, we found the top screw missing & have replaced it.
The distance pieces through the pivot of the little bell crank lever are not long enough, & thus prevents the tightening solid of the retaining bolt, also whilst the shield is of sufficient gauge material to withstand the blast of small stones etc, it does not quite cover all the mechanism on the original door.
