X6079 Referring to R.1/M24. 1. 32. we are only anxious to develop an oilless bush for the sequence starter motor for two reasons :- (a) Excess oil on the motor plain bearings coagulates in extreme cold weather making the longitudinal armature motion sluggish. (b) We wish to make the motor end cover waterproof which means blocking up the excess oil drain holes. We tried the moulded bearing because we could not obtain a satisfactory metal self lubricating bearing.
