-2- J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} for R.{Sir Henry Royce} 30.12.14. E3/G301214 Contd. in the induction pipe. Would you kindly say whether you approve of this method of carrying out the principle you have laid down, or whether you consider the disadvantages too great. The alternative would appear to be a scheme in which the three-way cock is used on the existing pressure pump, to pump air through a non-return valve into the specified chamber which would be supplied with petrol from the petrol tank through a three-way cock, which cock in turn would be used for discharging the fluids into the induction pipe, as shewn in sketch. The starting operations would then appear as follows:- (1) Turn on petrol cock so that petrol is fed into enclosed chamber. (2) Turn off petrol cock after a suit-able interval of time. (3) Turn on air cock to connect pump with chamber. (4) Pump enclosed chamber to a suitable air pressure. | ||
