X1721 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} e.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} to Ws. (Dictated 12.12.23) ROY{Sir Henry Royce}1/MG14.12.23 I should be glad if arrangements could be made to notify us earlier of the various Gears required for grinding by the Gear Grinding Company - especially Gears of a new design. We have had several cases of late where the first intimation we have had of such work being required was a request from the Despatch Department for instructions to forward the Gears themselves to the Gear Grinding Company, the result being it has been quite impossible to warn the Gear Grinding Company of our requirements, or make any arrangements for procuring the necessary Tools, etc., and we have been compelled to put ourselves under an obligation to the Gear Grinding Company and ask them to make special arrangements to break down machines etc., to carry on with the work. Could not the Drawing Office advise the Order Office of such work at the same time as the Drawings themselves are issued to the Shops for such Gears, and so obviate the difficulty. Tonight we are asked to send 6 sets of E.A.C.Gears away in this manner.. ROY.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
