PHANTOM - CROSS STEERING TUBE.

In reply to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}3/LG.4.5.28. although we could reduce the amount of bend in the cross steering tube on present production chassis, we do not consider that this is possible when we move the engine 1 1/2" further forward.

We have made a layout drawing, and we find that the clearance between the front guard of the engine undershield and the cross steering tube when bent as at present, is 1/2", when the axle has risen to maximum bump position. This is of course without taking into consideration the twisting of the axle due to torque re-action of the brakes since we are now fitting front axle controls.
