RE ACCIDENT ON 49-GB.

When I was driving the R.R. Car 49-GB, registration No. G.2660 along Chain Lane leading from Uttoxeter Road to Burton Road this morning, a small boy ran out in front of the car and was knocked down by it. The accident occurred in Chain Lane about 8-45 A.M. - I was driving in the direction of Burton Rd., the car speed was 20.M.P.H. On the right hand side of the road were a small boy and girl, I gave warning of my approach and the little girl evidently heard this but when I was about 20 yards away from the little boy he walked from the right-hand across to the left-hand side of the road in the front of the car. I ran the car right up into the hedge on the left-hand side to avoid the child but he was knocked down just as the car was stopping by the off-side mudguard. When I stopped, the boy was under the car, I picked him up and took he and his mother to Dr. Fletcher, Burton Road. He examined the boy - he could not see anything obvious the matter with him but recommended that he should go home to bed and that he would go again and examine him.

The only witness on the road was Mr. Linghard C/o Crompton Evans Bank, who stated that it was the childs fault.

The boys name was Warner, Chain Lane.

The mother stated that the child had been at home ill for a week or two and it was the first time out to go to school.
