We shall, with this arrangement, give up the idea of getting it on the plate under the contact maker, or let it be in an annular ring form, which is just possible, and which could, in this particular case, be of any reasonable height. You will observe that the "Liberty" engine is fitted with ignition of this type, but has the additional difficulty that the time of firing between the cylinders is uneven, the cylinders being placed on the crankchamber at 45° instead of 60°, and as this engine also runs faster than our "Condor" is likely to do, the physical conditions under which their coil is working would be worse than what we are proposing, vuz. firing a cylinder at 45° when 75°.
