X3678 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} c.c. to R.R. American Inc., for attention O.Y. R5/G11.4.21. X3456 (crossed out) RE EXTRUDED COPPER TUBES FOR RADIATORS. X3678 X3678 With reference to extruded copper tubes, these were sent to us by Mr. Wadin, but they were thought to be so soft that the built-up radiator would not be strong enough. You tell us, however, that these particular tubes are about one-third of the price we pay for the brass drawn tubes. It would therefore be advisable to get these made with circular ends which we prefer( enough to make three radiators) and see whether they will stand anything like the bumping tests as those will made from brass tubes. The saving will be particularly desirable for "Goshawk.ll" which will require same diameter of tube shorter in length and fewer in number. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
