S/W. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} x 200 a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}13/MC16.5.35. Experimental car, 5-B-1V. Further to Hn{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders}15/MC8.5.35. to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} 's instructions we advised Park Ward & Co. of the body troubles which have developed during the test of this car in France and for your information attach a copy of their reply, from which you will see they suggest the unusual mounting of the front wings may be responsible for the troubles which have developed in them. You will see that the body differs from our Standard in so far as the front and centre pillars are of wood instead of metal, the wind screen is frameless and fixed, whereas it usually opens and is of course in a metal frame, and the edges of the roof panels are swaged to form a beading above the doors, whereas we usually have a screwed-on water-gutter. We have already informed you that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} wishes Park Ward & Co. to have an opportunity of looking over this when it comes back from France. It is now suggested that it would be worth while arranging for Park Wards to try the car in France towards the end of its run there and before it comes back to England, provided there is nothing on the chassis they should not see. Please let us hear from you on this point, and say when you suggest Park Wards should send across to try the car, assuming that there are no objections to their doing so from the point of view of secrecy.
