In regard to the material already produced or in hand for the half charge scheme, we pointed out to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} that the high output dynamos are in any case useful (i.e. even in the absence of a half charge scheme) to supply to special customers as we have supplied higher output machines in the past, and that in the cases of the distribution box and switchbox the alterations do not involve very much departure from previous standard parts.

The position regarding the auto charge control switch was explained to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} by PN.{Mr Northey} and myself. It was pointed out that we had three units available and ready for bench test and that it had been our intention when time permitted to proceed with the testing of these units in the laboratory. Also, that in regard to putting these on experimental cars we feared to do this without R's or Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s sanction. It was accordingly arranged that we should proceed, and Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} has given us his sanction that in due course we put these in the first instance on purely experimental Derby cars and after having some experience again to let him know the position and results when he will be pleased further to look into the matter and probably take it up with R.{Sir Henry Royce} if he thinks desirable. This, we consider satisfactory from our point of view. We explained to him that a certain amount of time is necessary to enable us to make modifications as desired and to put up the best job we can evolve on the bench before placing these on the cars.
