COPY. S/W(BY)....from H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} H5/LH.{Mr Haworth}18.4.29. RE: REDUCTION OF SS.{S. Smith}, PHANTOM & 20 H.P. TOOLKIT. ------------------------------------------- Will you kindly refer to memo from R.{Sir Henry Royce} ref. R2/M17.10.28 which has a heading - 'Present Phantom & S.S'. In this memo, R.{Sir Henry Royce} wrote:- "It is understood and agreed now and previously that the following could be improved: Reduce the kit of tools to carry on the car because of the weight and the difficulty of finding stowing space. Only very shallow tool-boxes on the running board can be allowed, and even these are undesirable. It is far preferable that many of the seldom used tools be fitted into a small light toolbox and left in the owners garage. Then when travelling abroad for long periods it should be made suitable for carrying like other luggage, say, by being strapped on the running board. Will DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} kindly arrange this on our next Experimental cars". We are anxious to know how this matter stands, and whether experiments have been carried out and with what result. Have you any information and if not, will you kindly ask Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} if he can help us? H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} | ||
