To Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} from EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} X 4342 EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 4/13.10.21. X.4359 X.4342. DYNAMOS & MOTORS FOR GOSHAWK II. We would like you to obtain for our own and Mr. Royce's information, the prices at which Messrs. Rotax, Lucas and C.A.V. would be prepared to supply dynamos and motors similar to the sample machines which they have submitted to us for the Goshawk. In the case of Messrs.Lucas' dynamos, we favour the single field winding machine. In the case of the Rotax there is only their dynamo. In the case of C.A.V. and Lucas, there are both dynamos and motors. In the case of Messrs. Smith, we are not interested in their prices, as both machines - dynamo and motor - appear to be quite unsuitable for the purpose. The Rotax dynamo just passes our specification as regards output, although it is inclined to be noisy on the car, but the Lucas and C.A.V. machines appear (with the exception of dynamo noise which point is not yet settled) to be very suitable for the purpose. The Lucas machines are of course better finished than the C.A.V. though we are of the opinion that there is no loss of performance with the C.A.V. machines on this account. EFC. {E.
