As Borg & Beck have agreed to make these plates, we do not think that we should force the issue by insisting on making them ourselves at the moment, as customers complaints are too serious to risk a delay through a quarrel on policy. We agree that as a general policy it will be better to make the plates ourselves, and will raise the matter with Mr. Emmott when he comes to the Factory.

We will change 32-EX over to American linings before it leaves for France at the end of this week.

We anticipate we could get the English plates from Borg & Beck in two or three weeks, but it may be a month before we get supplies of the lining. The last lot was delayed by strikes. Nothing further is being done about the American plates until we hear from them about the tool transfer situation.

P.III TRIALS CARS.

We shall have English made Long type plates fitted with the American Thermoid type lining for fitting to these cars in a week. This is possible because of the recent arrival of the twelve sets of Thermoid lining which we ordered while we were in the U.S.A.

BENTLEY CLUTCH.

We are in a happier position on this clutch, because a plate which we have tried and found satisfactory is exactly similar to a plate which is standard, and which is being used on an American car.

We have asked Borg & Beck to order 100 of these clutch plates from America while tools are being got ready to prepare a similar article in England. Do you think 100 is a sufficient quantity ?
