to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} for Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X8774 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/1.6.26. RE SPORTS PHANTOM . CHASSIS 10 EX. Further to our conversation re the above car with Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} when at W.W. last week, we send herewith for his information a print of N.Sch.2083. shewing the proposed modifations which we suggested last December in order to overcome the wind resistance of the present car as demonstrated by your tests on the track at Brooklands. We suggest the use of wingsoffering only a thin edge to the wind but which deflect the mud out at angle of about 45 deg. rearwards. The screen is the minimun possible, whilst the half opposite the driver can be turned down when not needed. We have sent you a design for carrying the wheel at the rear. and we wil arrange for the head lamps to be carried high up and only 18.500 ins. centres so that they are no wider in the extreme than the radiator. The side lamps are carried in the wings of which they are a part. There are no running boards. When you are thinking of having these or any similar modif-ications made we would be glad if you would let us know in order that we may take up the detail design with Barkers.
