X.4383 - GOSHAWK DYNAMO BRUSH GEAR.

The Goshawk dynamo brush gear test with the heavier brush spring pressure applied to the new standard brushes and commutator (viz. bevelled brush tops and undercut micas), has now been completed, and attached is my assistant's report on this experiment, from which it will be seen that a slight improvement in brush working surface is obtained, but at the expense of considerably more wear on every brush.

It is therefore not though't that the increased spring pressure is a definite advantage.
