86052 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.1/HP.12.9.33. c. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} By/RD. RR. Battery Ignition Condensers. Replying to your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA.6.9.33 regarding improving our standard squashed condenser, I am referred to memo By/RD.15/J.17.5.33 on this point shewing why our present condenser is unsuitable for impregnation after assembly. If our present condenser is giving trouble either in itself or affecting the life of the contacts then we certainly ought to to give it some attention otherwise the best policy appears to be to push on with our double contact ignition unit, with a view to making a clean sweep as soon as possible of all chassis and changing over to the improved double breaker ignition. This change also deals with other complaints regarding our present ignition. We should, therefore, like to know what is the position of the latest double breaker unit which was developed for the Peregrine so that we can lay down a programme for it in connection with the experimental chassis on which we are working.
