G.W.Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWI. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}12/MA.13.4.33. 18.C.IV. There are a number of points on this car for which it is running 10,000 miles and which therefore require particular observation. (1) Autovac Filter. Cricklewood are complaining that now we have deleted the filters in the back tank the Autovac filter is not necessary, further than that it is a definite disadvantage, because it gets choked up more frequently than before. We therefore want you to run without the Autovac filter and see if any ill effects are experienced. (2) Petrol Filler. There have been complaints about leaks from the petrol tank filler cap. We have improved the position of the vent and should like observations kept to see how much petrol is spilt. (3) We have fitted a spring driven clutch centre on this car. (4) We want to try and fit a dash pot for preventing servo thumps before the car goes away. (5) The silencer has a flexible mounting with the object of letting the engine swing freely, and should like to know how effective this is. (6) Woodhead road springs are fitted. We should take particular interest in their behaviour. (7) New carburetter-check consumption and performance against standard carburetter.
