JHW/MES.114415 Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 24th. August, reference as above, which has been passed on to us by our Birmingham Office. With the spacing of the bearings and position of the belt pulley now given the journal load on one of the bearings will, of course, be appreciably higher than at first estimated. If, however, you can arrange so that the thrust load is taken on the more lightly loaded bearing then neither of the bearings under the present conditions will be quite so heavily loaded as would be the case if both bearings were sharing the belt load equally and one of them taking 76 lbs thrust in addition. Even so both bearings will be still more heavily loaded than we would recommend if 20 h.p. is transmitted. Assuring you of our best attention at all times, we remain, Yours faithfully, THE HOFFMANN MANUFACTURING CO. LTD., | ||
