X1042 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Woz.m. Experimental Cars. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}16/E3.12.35 Thanks for Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.2.12.35. I have asked C. and Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} to get in touch with you, the former relative to the Graham-Paige, the disposal of which he will be dealing with, the latter in reference to 28-EX. I do not understand the second paragraph where it is said that 'we have decided to hold up all supercharging work for the time being', because at the conference on the 31st October it was agreed that the Experimental Department should proceed with supercharging experiments and manufacturing certain parts said to have been designed to enable this work to be done. I am particularly interested in this matter because your Department issued a report Ref: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.20/KW.30.10.35 wherein, as the result of the investigations, they pointed out that a supercharged 3.4 bore 6-cylinder engine becomes a very strong candidate for the next Bentley car. I am not at all enamoured of the idea of the Bentley car having either a V.8 or a 12 so that I do not want to let this question of supercharging a bigger bore Bentley drop and I should like to know who has decided what you say has been decided in direct contradiction to what was decided at the last Derby conference.
