FUEL ECONOMY.

Confirming discussion held this morning on the subject, the following conclusions were reached:-

The present position is that we have to produce a reasonably good fuel consumption for the Wraith to start it off in production.

G.R. has already obtained an optimum road setting, and he is now going to be asked to supply a little more information to C.F.S. to enable him to start on a series of investigations.

We are looking to the Test Bed to indicate which way to move, and after the preliminary investigations we shall not expect G.R. to start up on further road consumption tests until C.F.S. has demonstrated where he expects the best economy to be achieved.

Whilst C.F.S. is working on the Test Bed, G.R. will go through with the improved choke controls, both manual and automatic on the Wraith. G.R. should co-operate with Sym. to make sure that his economy setting is acceptable to all concerned. When this has been agreed, it should be applied to all Wraith cars.

In order to get our position clearly defined as to how bad our consumption is relative to the present figures being obtained, we are expecting G.R. to look up the best figures we have obtained on the Buick and Chevrolet, and to get figures from the Oldsmobile we at present have. We should like to see the best ton miles per gallon which can be obtained on the Wraith with the new economy setting, compared with similar figures for these American cars.

We attach a brief summary of the tests decided upon during the discussion.
