COPY. X8940 To C.J. - from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} SECRET. Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}5/M4/2/25. CJ7/E4/2/25: With reference to your memo, we are likely to assemble 20 "V" series chassis with the new engine during February. This is what I am asking the Works to do, and we are getting on remarkably well, considering the hundred and one minor alterations, late instructions and late material, which are hampering. I am happy to say that the Works is almost 'neck and neck' with the Experimental Dept., they preparing experimental chassis for 10,000 miles and we preparing production chassis for Sales. We are not, however, allowing any men who come to the Driving School, into the Works, and we are doing everything possible to keep the matter quiet, but of course now that we are going to assemble, even some of our workpeople may talk a little. We are striving very hard to keep the dates promised to you. It seems, however, very important to get on with the 10,000 miles trial at the earliest possible moment, even though the cars may be somewhat imperfect, because now we are in production you will, I know, realise there is much involved from the Company's point of view, and you will be anxious to know the worst that can happen in the 10,000 miles, at the soonest possible moment. I do not wish to suggest that anything serious is going to happen, in my opinion, with the 10,000 miles. The engine and all the new parts seem to be going together beautifully, for a new job, and beyond minor alterations to facilitate production and certain errors that are bound to creep up in a new prodoct, things are going delightfully. With reference to the information and photographs that you speak of, I will get in touch with Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} but I thought it best to just give you these impressions, because I should not have been able to get the information and photographs for tonight's post. I will hurry this further information. [Handwritten] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} For your information. Worgin 5/2/25 | ||
