To E.P. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to B.Y. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} Y8040 Hal/LG25.1.29. 40/50 AND 20 HP. PISTONS SEIZING ON NEW CARS. X8040 Y5040 A short time ago we sent a note to the Repair Dept. to ask them whether they or Depots experienced any trouble with seized pistons on Phantoms. Their reply was that seized pistons on Phantoms were very rare - they had much less trouble with the Phantom than the Silver Ghost in this respect. If Phantom pistons therefore are giving trouble, we have got to be very certain it is not due to some modification. There is no intention of adopting any extra oiling device.
