Dear Sirs,

With reference to our verbal enquiry for low pressure tyres and wheels suitable for a D.H. Moth aeroplane, we can now give fuller particulars of the machine on which the changeover was contemplated.

The machine number is D.H.-60.G.MOTH. No.981, and from the log book we get the following particulars which may or may not have a bearing on the job :-

Split Axle Chassis MK.2., Drg.1900.

Plain bearings are used for the high pressure wheels at present fitted, and the wheels are fixed on by a collar which is retained by a split pin passing through two holes in the collar and a hole in the axle. On the other hand low pressure tyres and wheels (19" x 7 for 7½" wheels) which we have seen fitted up to a similar machine are retained with a castellated nut screwed on to the axle. This rather indicates that an axle modification is necessary to complete the changeover. We understand from you, however, that the low pressure tyres and wheels (AH-620) can be fitted without any axle modification. Will you be kind enough to confirm this, or if an axle alteration is necessary, let us know what this consists of. You might also confirm your verbal quotation of £16.10.0. for the changeover.
