RE SPRINGS FOR ABROAD. -------------------- Referring to R1/M. 16.10.22. the actual scheme which you arranged for in connection with spring clearances was that the car should have an abnormal spring clearance at 3/4 load, so that when the maximum load was actually on the car, we obtained the original clearance called for between the axle and the frame. In regard to the springs themselves, the arrangement at the moment is that we spring for 3/4 of the variable load, and then reduce each rear spring by 100 lbs. and each front spring by 50 lbs. As I understand the new proposal, it means that we shall increase the strength of the springs all round for chassis intended for abroad, by 5%. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Ry | ||
