re. India Type Chassis.

With reference to the above and CJ's instructions that pending the signing of a standardisation sheet (which Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} is dealing with) any Production Chassis with which I am thoroughly satisfied may be despatched to Coachbuilders.

There are several features which on the chassis put up to me (GPK-1) are not considered satisfactory, but during the Works Holidays I was informed by EWT. that this chassis was to be sent to Coachbuilders on instructions from CJ. and this has been done.

With regard to this chassis, I am satisfied that the best we know at present has been done and understand that the undesirable features are known and are having the attention of the Design and Experimental Dept. and that it is hoped to modify at Coachbuilders.

The points referred to include the following, taken from the test of the one chassis above referred to:-

(1) Steering wobble at low speeds.

(2) Undershield and cross steering tube clearance. - Clearance for lubrication on front springs.

(3) Leather covers and Spring gaiters for various front wheel brake parts.

(4) Springs too strong?

It is of course possible other faults may develop during tests of Production chassis of this type.
