In view of the wear experienced on this gear in service, thought to be due to the use of Oilite bushes in the inertia member, we have made provision, on N.Sch.5143, herewith for the application of the Bijur lubrication to ordinary Phosphor bronze bushes. It is understood that Phosphor bronze bushes are being tried without lubrication. Should this give promise it would not be necessary to proceed with N.Sch. 5143. The inertia unit seems to lend itself to being packed with grease, and we have suggested on this drawing how the spindle might be drilled with this object in view, in case it should be considered worth trying.
