Messrs. Clayton Dewandre Ltd.,
Titanic Works,
Lincoln.

For the attention of Mr. S.E. Willet.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for the radiator test charts Nos. L.608/B.1, L.609/B.1, L.610/B.1, and L.611/B.1, which you have sent us.

The results shown are extremely interesting and indicate a marked superiority on the part of the Marston Mark VI type of block throughout the speed range. This agrees with the results which we have previously obtained on these blocks, but does not agree with the information which the Harrison Radiator Corporation of the U.S.A. have given us. This indicates that the Mark V & Mark VI blocks will give identical dissipations at high speeds, while the Mark VI will be slightly superior at low speeds.

In view of this we suspect that the Mark V block is not up to American standards, and in order to check that this is generally so and not peculiar to the Mark V block which you have tested, we are sending you another Mark V radiator. We should very much like you to repeat your tests on this radiator as soon as is convenient to yourselves.

We are glad to hear that you will be testing the oil coolers which we sent you within the next two or three weeks. We are anxious to receive these figures as soon as possible.

We trust that the results of these tests both on radiators and oil coolers will be of value to you as well as to ourselves.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
