W/P. To Sr. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} 1245 + HH2 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}9/MH.{M. Huckerby}20.4.39. BENTLEY V DAMPING. We have been told by Waller that you are concerned by the softness of B.V. ride. Knowing that your customers have a preference for a 'harsh' ride, we will instruct a harder front damper setting than normal for cars intended for France. This will be 140 lbs. and is about as high as we dare go without reducing the reliability of the dampers. The best setting for a new car in England is 100 lbs. but for a 'run in' car 120 lbs. is better. We therefore have to set all customers' cars to 120 lbs. The initial harshness gets them used to the soft ride gradually. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
