Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd,
DERBY

Dear Mr. Robotham,

We have now made some comparative tests for air flow between the A.A.V-2 carburetter and the E.E.C.

We have also flowed separately the die cast portion and the barrel of the A.A.V carburetter and we think it will pass sufficient air to feed the P.III Engine, provided a larger throttle barrel is used.

Therefore, I am getting a pattern made of a 42 m/m barrel to fit on to the die cast body of the A.A.V as I think that probably with this barrel we shall obtain sufficient flow for the P.III Engine. If that is so, we could use the same die cast portion for both engines and only change the throttle barrels.

It will be a week or so before I can get the new barrel portion made up and flowed, but I thought I would let you know that we are losing no time on these tests.
