R.1/W/4.11.29. Contd. head all to be 1.5 but we shall see what is possible with the existing cylinder studs and tappet rods. There will be alterations to the coreboxes for the head, and the pattern will probably require some modification to the exhaust and inlet pipe. Mr. Jenner is working under E's guidance to send you quickly a drawing of modifications to head and pipes. A very hopeful improvement will be that to the bend where the gas passes the valve stem guide; it is still restricted in Mr. Lovesey's tests. We find that we sent you particulars of the camshaft and valve spring 12 months ago, probably in conjunction with "Japan" L.C.10/11 respectively - which give you the camshaft and valve spring you should have tested. We spent a lot of time on these parts. The new spring in combination with the longer exhaust cam should put up the jumping speed approximately 20%. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
