Re. Damaged Cross Member on 1.J.III.

The following is a list of various parts of the above car giving their respective ground clearances when the chassis has been weighted down to sit on all four buffers.

Exhaust system front expansion box - 2.25"
" " rear silencer front end - 3.25"
" " " " rear end - 2.25"
" " hot spot silencer - 1.875"
" " hot spot silencer outlet pipe - 2.125"
" " swanneck - 2.50"

3rd. Crossmember (This member has been damaged, and in all probability when originally fitted, the ground clearance) would be a little less than the figure) here given.) - 2.00"

Battery box - 2.25"
Rear spring shackle anchorage front end - 2.25"
Front brake equaliser mechanism (lever) - 4.00"
Bottom of servo swinging arm - 3.75"

If one allows .500" for compression of buffers the above measurements will of course be reduced by .500".
