RECEIVED 11 MAY 1932 X87B X6045 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. C Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} C Sft{Mr Swift}/Mr. Brock. BY/RD1/W.4-5-32. Re :- Faulty Dynamos. With reference to Chassis GUK.60 and the three dynamos which have failed thereon, and your proposal to issue a Depot Sheet regarding this type of failure, we have as far back as 1927 (BY2/H.14-9-27) when a similar case on Chassis 99.MC occurred, pointed out the error of replacing dynamo after dynamo without looking for the real cause of the trouble. It is our experience that dynamos in themselves do not give trouble out that they are victims of faults elsewhere on the system. On the last occasion of similar trouble (Mrs. Cadbury) I was assured by the Repair Department that the connections are checked and examined. This procedure is apparently not being carried out at depots. I suggest that Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} again firmly impresses the need for examination of the connections, to all depots, and every case of repeated dynamo failure, such as Chassis GUK.60, is the depots' responsibility.
